How To Deal with Diesel Generator Sets into The Water

When you notice water coming into your diesel generator set, stop using it and cut off the power immediately. This is very important because continued use may lead to more serious damage. Next, you can take the following steps to deal with the water inlet problem:

1. Check the source of water ingress: First, you need to determine the cause and source of water ingress. It may be due to rainwater seeping inside the unit, or water pooling due to the unit being placed in a low-lying area. Check that the drainage system around the unit is functioning properly and make sure there are no holes or damage.

2. Remove standing water: If you find standing water around the unit, you need to remove it promptly. Use a sump pump or other suitable tool to drain the water. Ensure that the drainage system around the unit is unobstructed to prevent water from accumulating again.

3. Dry the unit: Once the water has been removed, you will need to thoroughly dry the inside and outside of the unit as soon as possible. Use a moisture absorber, fan, or other appropriate tool to speed up the drying process. Make sure the electrical components and connectors inside the unit are completely dry to avoid electrical failure.

4. Check for Damage: After drying the unit, you need to carefully inspect all parts of the unit for any damage. Pay special attention to the electrical components, wiring and connectors to see if they have been affected by water. If any damage is found, it should be repaired or replaced promptly.

5. Perform maintenance: Once the unit is completely dry and no damage is found, you can restart the unit. Before restarting, it is recommended to perform a complete maintenance, including changing the oil filter, air filter and fuel filter. Make sure that all parts of the unit are in good working condition.
